Indio, March 2026

Sunday 3/30

Left around 7:30

Got to tram around 9:30. The wait was one hour, so Cliff got tix for us and the Andrades while we waited in the car/waited for Andrades. Did the short loop trail at the top. So beautiful! Water streams.

El Patio Palm Springs location for lunch. Food is just aight. So stuffy/hot! It was unusually muggy for the desert all week from a monsoon passing through.

Cliff put up shade sail from home over pool.

Dinner deliver Sabatinos pizza. Pretty good just took forever.

Monday

Breakfast burritos. Milk handle broke and we had to use electric kettle to store.

Mostly pool all day w/ some Roblox/video games interspersed. Cliff golfed with Eric til about 3.

Kids had kraft mac for din. We found a stash of bachelorette supplies and the boys wore them. We sat out back at the big table. We got silly in the garage riding bikes and wagons. Eventually put kids to bed and sat by firepit.

Stupid pool guy showed up in the middle of the day, then gardener (and pool guy came again Wednesday!)

Tuesday

Breakfast burritos Cliff

Hiked (walked) Cove Oasis. Jodie and Ada cried from hating it/the heat.

Crissi and I went to midtown Everbloom, then The Place (cute warehouse w many cute vendors) in downtown Indio. I bought two records--Ahmad Jamal, Art Blakey.

Picked up TKB sandos for everyone and ate poolside.

Pool. I had a headache and tried to go low and slow all day.

Garbage disposal broke and a plumber had to come out.

Diana painted the dads' nails.

Went to dinner just adults at Mi Cultura peruvian.

Wednesday

Breakfast burritos again.

Crissi and I went for a long bike ride around the neighborhood. Gorgeous weather.

Pool time.

Lunch: cake/HBD to Elaina.

Watched the Artemis moon rocket launch and listened to Dark Side of the Moon and other Pink Floyd.

Tim grilled carne asada and shrimp; discovered the house may be inhabited by midgets with giant hands, as evidenced by the weird long-handled knife and the midget-morgue drawers built into the grill bricks.

Cliff and Tim took girls for bike rides.

Fire pit and played Taboo.

Thursday

Various breakfast leftovers/cereal

Watched underwater calm music channel with fish

Packed up. Ugh.

Downtown Indio: got Gabino's Creperie East and Papa Headz burgers (you can order both inside crepe place). Walked around. Such cool art, robot statues, record store, etc.

Shields Date Farm. We all got ice cream and date shakes. I thought the shake was surprisingly good. We all watched the movie in the old-fashioned theatre. Shocked that the kids actually seemed interested.

Said our goodbyes :( after Cliff got to be photographer for huge black church group from Vegas.

Tim: Is there anything better in life than being amused? 3/30

"I don't see nail color" -Crissi 3/31/26

"This is why Auntie Jodie doesn't have any kids." 4/1/26

Next time: bring battery-powered fly swatters

House w pickleball??

48776 Stillwater Street

Notes about the house: freezer top rack is finicky/can fall/pinch fingers. The bedroom we've stayed in both times has a vent directly above the bed/our heads and blows soo hard. We managed to point the slats at more of an angle and that helped.

Mi Cultura is opening in downtown Indio! Also would like to try the taphouse or brewery.

Drive by the flipbook bridge mural! https://maps.app.goo.gl/PbspdfyYWjDYwNpH8vv
