May Vacay to Palm Desert

Well, once again I'm writing this long after our trip happened, so the details are foggy. That's probably better for the reader's sake. 🤣 Ha! Overall, the trip was...relaxing yet stressful. Because, well, kids. Ryan was battling a cough, so we kept hearing that all night. He slept well except for super early wakeups. Ada woke us at 2am screaming the first night but did well after that. The Desert Villas was really nice. Our room was HUGE; it had a kitchen, a living room, and a whole separate suite where we put Ada. We loved watching the geese and their babies roaming the grounds. My nightly routine was to have a glass of wine in bed, watching Jeopardy. So fun! The hotel had lots of activities for both kids and adults. We would definitely stay there again!

Tuesday, April 25

  • We left for our trip during kids' naps. They did not nap so well.
  • After getting settled, we headed to the pool for a bit. The water was a bit too cold, and at that point, the weather had cooled off enough to make the cold water not so inviting. Ada was wary of the water/our new pool toys. Ryan, of course, loved the water immediately.
  • Dinner: not-great pizza, then not-great Cold Stone (how do you mess that up??)

Wednesday, April 26

  • Had a bad breakfast from the "Starbucks" (totally not a Starbucks) in the hotel.
  • Went up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Had a snack, did a 3-minute hike, then turned back around. Kids make everything so much worse.
  • I did a wine tasting class while Cliff watched the kids in the nearby playroom. So glad I did it! The woman was very knowledgeable. And always fun to taste wine side-by-side to figure out what you like and taste different flavors.
  • Dinner at Cheesecake Factory

Thursday, April 27
  • Kids were up suuuper early per youzhe (As in "usual". There is NO good way to spell that abbreve!).
  • Did a yoga class out on the lawn near another pond. So nice! Cliff took the kids to a cookie decorating "class" that was a total joke. It consisted of slapping some frosting on a chips ahoy cookie and sticking Reese's pieces on.
  • Went to a different pool area. Ryan napped on me. Ada had lots of fun in the baby pool with floaties.
  • Cliff did a beer tasting "class" that also was a total joke. The guy knew NOTHING about beer. The kids and I played in the play room.
  • Dinner at Mexican place that had rave reviews but wasn't very good.

And we headed back home on Friday!

The timestamp on this one is 5:13am. They're lucky they're so dang cute!
