Sacramento/Reno, August 2021

Thursday

Left out of SNA. Scary car ride to our airbnb; Ryan was out of control kicking/hitting/screaming, unbuckling. It was bad. We didn't know what to do.

Airbnb in Fair Oaks. I stayed with the kids while Cliff got food from Sunflower. Good once again despite vegetarian! Weird weird house. Old vintagey house with nice big yard but other units with other people staying. But tuscan/modern decor plus the people's stuff?! like a weird glass thing with picture of grandkids etched. One room's door opened up to a sun patio thing.

Friday

French bakery for breakfast soooo good and wanna go back. Wandered around downtown Fair Oaks (so cute!). Headed back to get ready for the day.
Adrienne's! For a couple hours til it was time to go to Bammy's. We just sat around and talked while the kids were shy then finally warmed up to play and it was time to go to lunch with Molly.
Lunch with Molly at taco place. It was okay. Good to see them though. Got Baskin Robbins and went to a park afterward in Molly's old neighborhood Rancho Cordova.
Bammy's. She has a cute new dog part chihuahua named Buddy. He's super sweet; bit of a scaredy. We got Afghani food from Madar and it was SO GOOD. Great quality and flavor. Bammy seems lonely. Not seeing unvaxxed peeps but seems to be getting out more with playing bridge.

Saturday

Claudia made breakfast for us. There was hardly anywhere to sit because there was stuff everywhere. Still no oven but she has a toaster oven. Round Table for lunch. We hung out all day; Cliff and Tyler went to Ace to get netting to put around apple tree to prevent goats from eating too many. Liam and Avery were there; Liam and Ryan fed some apples to the goat which caused Claudia to freak the f out since they're not supposed to have too many. We saw Lauren briefly from a distance when she picked up the kids.
Left a bit after 1 to drive 2 hours to Reno. The smoke was so bad as we drove! The kids did okay in the car; Ryan threatened some of the same things but not as bad.
Got to Mimi and Grand Dog's around 3. Bad smoke. Went to concert on the golf course and the kids ran/rolled around. Food truck didn't show so booo. And Steve said it'd be jazz but it was a bad cover band. Booo.

Sunday

Because of the smoke/air quality index, the pool was closed. Boooo. So we were inside a lot more than we'd have liked, and the kids kinda acted up (mostly Ryan). Went to park and rode train, fed ducks. Pretty and would go back.
We went to a "casino" for the carousel and played quite a few arcade games. Ryan playing skeeball is a sight to see!! Bahaha.
Steve made beer can chicken on the grill.

Monday

Chris made eggs, bacon, toast for breakfast. Bocce ball.
Tried to go to pool but hours for the open pool/kid area was closed till noon. We just ended up at the nearby playground. Back home for showers, packed up and headed out. Steve followed us for lunch.
Anna's Taqueria. So so good. Quality authentic. Pollo asado tacos, Al pastor tacos, quesadilla. Steve got birria tacos which also looked/tasted pretty good. I got mezcal cocktail with pineapple. So delicious and refreshing in the hot Reno heat while the flies swarmed us. Bye to Steve.
Tried to find playgrounds but all were swamped with homeless. Got coffee at Reno Coffee Co. Very good pour-over styles/concoctions (I got mint mojito one).
Killing lots of time at the airport.
