Gardens and rivers

Got coffee at a hipster coffee shop before heading to the botanical gardens. Why I chose to get hot coffee on this blistering hot day, I don't know.

The gardens were beautiful; there was lots to explore. So, so hot, though, that day!

We ate lunch at Southerleigh, inside the Pearl Brewery, which isn't actually a brewery anymore but a big complex that now houses a bunch of eateries and shops and hotel. Super cute! I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere; mom thought it was lacking. Ada loved playing with the pretzel dough that they give all the kids to make their own pretzel.

Post-nap snuggling with Uncle Justin & Aunt Christy
Chilled at the hotel for Ada's nap and then set out on a hunt for dinner along the river. Since it was Friday night, everywhere was crowded and our favorite (Esquire) had a long wait. We finally settled on a Mexican place, which was mediocre. At least we got waterfront seating!

The non-Burdicks all went on a river cruise, but it was too close to Ada's bedtime for us, so we got Ben & Jerry's and headed back to the hotel. Later that night, there was a lightning storm, and I joined my parents on the rooftop of the hotel to watch. Pretty neat! We didn't actually get rain—that would come the following night.
